Jeffrey Epstein has reportedly hanged himself in a jail cell at New York MCC (Metropolitan Correctional Center) where he was awaiting trial for conspiracy and sex trafficking. CNN is reporting that according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, staff found him unresponsive this morning around 6:30 EST. The bureau stated that staff began medical treatment and transported Epstein to New York Downtown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from cardiac arrest. Meanwhile NBC reported news of the death from unnamed sources.
Epstein Wasn’t on Suicide Watch
The general public response in the US is incredulity. Especially when the news first hit, many were under the impression that Epstein died while on suicide watch. He’d reportedly been placed on suicide watch in late July, and today NBC New York says it’s unclear when the suicide watch was lifted.
It strikes Trump Watchdogs as odd that Epstein wouldn’t be under surveillance at the time of his death, given the unsealing of documents related to his case a day before. The documents named New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Prince Andrew and other politically powerful men as being enabled by Epstein to sexually abuse children.
Knocking the Right’s Conspiracy Theory
Soon after Epstein’s death made headlines, pro-Trump Twitter accounts swarmed social media with the tag #ClintonBodyCount, claiming that Hillary Clinton had Epstein killed before he could testify about any involvement of Bill Clinton in his sex trafficking.
Others countered with better logic tagged as #TrumpBodyCount. Some key points:
- Who oversees federal prisons in the US? Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr.
- While rumors swirl about Bill Clinton, who was actually named as a rapist in an Epstein lawsuit? Donald Trump.

Barr released the following statement today at justice.gov:
“I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”
Meanwhile, some wonder if Epstein is actually deceased? They want evidence that he didn’t pay for escape.
